Last year Steven built me a square foot garden and I excitedly planted different seeds. Well, as it turned out. I planted too late. I called Harris County Extension and they sent me planting info for this area. So I know what I did wrong. The plants that did grow, did not produce. So after faithfully watering it for months I decided to pull it all up. I left a little carrot and a broccoli plant. September is a good time to plant, according to my little fact sheet I was sent. There was no way I was gardening with a newborn, so nothing happened with the garden. Well, last night, this is was I pulled.
Isn't it beautiful!!!!! It's crazy how this carrot has been in the ground for 8 months. It actually tasted good too. (well, the truth is I only tasted a little bit of it. We decided to steam the rest. Steven went to Scouts and I went up and read to the boys for bed. When I came out, my nose realized I killed our little carrot.) I think I am ready to try again. I had felt like a big fat failure and that little carrot has given me courage to "Try, try again."
