Math- check
Grammar-check. We are using First Language Lessons by Jessie Wise. We started these lessons earlier in the summer. Jacob has learned the definition of a noun and about common and proper names to people and places. We had just finished places and it was a great place to have Jacob learn his address and important phone numbers. We worked on that today.
Handwriting-not check. I completely spaced it. Lucky for Jacob I have been very forgetful lately. Unlucky for him he gets to do tomorrow morning.
History-check. We read books that I had reserved from the library that goes along with chapter one-The Earliest People.
One Small Blue Bead by Byrd Baylor
The First Dog by Jan Brett
It's Disgusting and We ate it by james Solheim
Spanish-check. I picked this material up at a homeschool garage sale. It's called Children's Spanish by Power-Glide Foreign language Courses. The boys liked it. They sit there listening to a tape of an adventure story and pointing at pictures. Michael had come up the stairs repeating "pelota" and remembered it at dinner and that it meant ball. So who knows, they might actually pick up a bit of Spanish this year. If you can tell, this isn't a high priority on my list....for now, at least.
Science-ugh! I had given Jacob the option on what he wanted to learn this year from this series and this is what he picked- Exploring Creation with Zoology 1: Flying Creatures of the Fifth Day by Fulbright. We learned about Classification today, wee. I sure hope we'll be happy with this. I still think it looks hands on and interesting as I look through even just the first chapter, but what an unsatisfying first lesson.

Unfortunately our first homeschool playgroup was cancelled today due to the rain, but that didn't stop my boys from going outside. They were out in the backyard playing in the rain. I swear, they are magnet to water!!
