This is our "school room". Our hall upstairs is pretty wide and I love having this area. I have our weekly schedule pinned up nice and big for Jacob and myself to see. So far, it has really kept me on top of things.
There have been times that "one" of my children is driving me crazy, but are not doing anything worthy of the timeout spot. I've said, "Hey go sit at the school table." It's great, because he ends up getting absorbed in a book or drawing. Ahhh! Nice moment for me.
Steven got me this chalkboard off of Craigslist this summer. I love it!! The easel is just too small when teaching certain assignments. I believe I use it the most with grammar. For one grammar lesson I gave Jacob a couple of books with great pictures of places in it. We then made a list of common places that covered the chalkboard. We left that list up and for the next lesson we came up with the proper nouns of some of those places: state, city, neighborhood, street...
Scheduling activities in a place that is visible is so important. A day planner gets forgotten. The white board calender as already been awesome. There have been those times that my kids have missed out on a primary activity or such and only because I forgot. When that happens I feel terrible! So I see happy days coming.

(Biiiig sigh. No, really.) I love it. Now, I am off to find a bigger place I can not move into for another 9 months. (Another sigh, smaller this time.)
You are so amazing! I can't believe all the stuff you can get done in a day. Your school area looks so great!
